This blog is the online companion to the Digital Literacies Department Columns for the Journal of Adolescent and Adult Literacy.
The coeditors, Dr. David O’Brien and Cassie Scharber, wrote the inaugural column to offer a working definition of digital literacies. The subsequent authors (William Kist, Michele Knobel and Colin Lankshear) are recognized scholars interested in how digital literacies practices shape and are shaped by youth inside and outside of schools, and how these practices can be best supported by educators.
Over the next year, we hope this blog helps extend the thinking and conversations of the authors and readers of the Digital Literacies Column. Happy blogging!
